THE PHILOSOPHY

“Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world.”

This quote from the 16th-century Japanese martial artist and philosopher Miyamoto Musashi has guided

how I approach everything. My training, my coaching, and the way I think about the human body.

I think of human movement as an art form. Like all art, the practice of focusing the mind and body to refine

one’s expressive ability is both an intellectual and physical discipline. The body is capable of extraordinary things when it’s treated with intelligence, consistency, and respect — and I’ve spent my life studying how to help people unlock that.

— MARTIAL ARTS AS ORIGIN

My love of movement started with martial arts. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai have been my primary disciplines — I’m a competitive athlete and the Head Striking Coach and Co-Owner of Traphouse BJJ & Muay Thai in Missoula, Montana.

Combat sports taught me something that most fitness environments never teach: the cost of dysfunction.

Fighters who ignore tissue health, movement quality, and recovery don’t last. The ones who do are still on the mat at 40, 50, and beyond.

That obsession — staying capable, durable, and powerful for as long as possible — became the foundation of my coaching practice.

THE APPROACH — WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT

Most practitioners specialize in one thing. Trainers write workouts. Massage therapists work on tissue.

Mobility coaches stretch you. But real-world results come from integrating all three. Addressing tissue dysfunction, rebuilding movement patterns, and loading the body intelligently.

That’s the combination I bring. The result is something my clients describe consistently: they stop managing their pain and start building a body they can count on.
